File Attachment
TicketRx allows you to attach a file or picture to any of the tickets that are assigned to you. TicketRx implements an adaptive upload algorithm designed to ensure that uploads continue even in the face of slow and intermittent connections. This is important because field personnel are often working on wireless connections that are far inferior to typical direct connections.
To attach a file, open the ticket in the Ticket Detail screen by double-clicking the ticket, or by selecting the ticket and clicking the Ticket Detail button. Click the Attachments tab. You will see any files that are currently attached to the ticket. To add a file, click the Select button at the bottom of the screen and select your file from the dialog box that pops up. Click Open to close the dialog box, and click Attach to upload the file. As the files are attached, the progress bar at the bottom of the tab indicates the status of the update. If an error occurs during the file attachment process, the progress bar will turn red and a dialog box with details about the error is displayed.
The Attachment Tab also displays the Position (latitude and longitude) where a photo was taken. This data is only available with GPS enabled cameras that encode the latitude and longitude into the image at the time the photo is taken.
To make a voice recording, open the ticket in the Ticket Detail screen by double-clicking the ticket, or by selecting the ticket and clicking the Ticket Detail button. Click the Attachments tab (shown below). You will see any files that are currently attached to the ticket. To start a recording, click the Record button. You can pause a recording session by clicking the Pause button. Click the Stop button to stop recording. You can now choose to Play the file, Save… it as an attachment, or Cancel to stop working with the recording. To listen to a saved recording, highlight the attachment in the list above and click Play. A microphone is needed to make a recording. Like other attachments, Voice Notes are uploaded via the Sync screen.
After performing a sync, you will notice an Upload Attachments button at the top of the Sync screen. This area will also display the number of attachments pending and the size of the attachments. To upload the attachment, click Upload Attachments. The system will perform another sync and display the names of the attachments, the size, and if the process is completed. You can repeat this process as many times as you like, and you can attach as many files as you like to each ticket.
Attachments that you no longer want to upload can be removed on the Sync screen. Right click on them and select Remove from the pop-up menu. Alternatively the Remove All Completed button on the Upload Attachments section of the Sync screen removes all completed files from the list on the screen.
The Upload Attachments section of the Sync screen is shown below:

Attachment Restrictions
Only 500 attachments are allowed on each ticket or investigation.
Files can only be attached if they are not already attached to an item. So for example, the same photo cannot be attached to two tickets in the system. The IGNORE.ATT.DUPES right can be assigned to users who need to attach duplicate files. For example, a damage investigator or manager might need the right to attach duplicate files as part of their work. The User Rights section discusses rights in more detail.
Attachments in BMP format are not allowed because of how inefficiently they use storage. Please, convert BMP files to another graphical format (e.g. PNG or JPEG).
Attaching Directly from Cameras and Scanners
TicketRx can connect directly to cameras and scanners to attach images to tickets or investigations. This streamlines the process of adding the attachments. In order to use this feature, the Microsoft Image Acquisition Automation Library must be installed. This library and instructions for installing it are available from the Microsoft download site.
In order to attach files from a camera or scanner, select one of the From Camera options in the Attachments pane (shown below) and click the "Attach…" button. This will open a wizard which will guide you through the rest of the process.

TicketRx can automatically remove files from the camera after they're attached, however not all digital cameras support this automatic removal.
To attach files from cameras and scanners a user must have the ATTACHMENT.CAMERA right.
