Viewing Attachments
Some One Call centers attach image files to locate tickets. These images are maps of the locate site and contain a graphical representation of the locate. Third-party software is required to view most of these file formats.
MS Windows can open the following image files without third-party software:
- BMP
- JPG
- GIF
- PNG
- TIF
Autodesk Design Review will open many common file formats and is available here, http://download.autodesk.com/esd/designreview/SetupDesignReview2009.exe.
Autodesk Design Review will open the following special image formats:
- DWF
- DWFX
- FLC
- FLI
- CAL
- CALS
- CG4
- GP4
- MIL
- RST
- IG4
- PCX
- PCT
- PICT
- RLC
- TGA
If the attachment does not open after being double-clicked, a Windows file association may need to be created. File associations tell Windows to use a specific program to open a specific file type. The instructions below discuss creating a new file association.
- Open My Computer
- Click the Tools menu
- Click Folder Options
- Click the File Types tab
- Click the New button
- Under Create New Extension, type all of the letters that appear to the right of the period in the filename
- Click the Advanced button
- A new menu should appear, Associated File Type:
- Select the program that will be used to open the file
- Click OK two times and close My Computer
- TicketRx should now open the attachments using the correct program
