GPS Tracking

TicketRx has the ability to collect data from GPS devices connected to a locator's machine. The GPS tracking feature collects the locator's GPS location when the following actions are performed:

  • Login
  • Logout
  • Sync
  • Statusing Ticket - when changing status of a locate on a ticket.
  • Launching GT Viewer - when GT Viewer is launched.

If the locator is idle, the locator's GPS location is gathered every 2 minutes.

The following GPS data is collected from the GPS device:

  • Username
  • Date/Time when data was collected - satellite time from GPS device
  • Date/Time when data was collected - local TicketRx client time
  • Latitude - degrees, minutes, hemisphere
  • Longitude - degrees, minutes, hemisphere
  • Speed(MPH) - not recorded when user is not traveling or when data is not provided by the GPS device.
  • Datum - not recorded when data is not provided by the GPS device.
  • Altitude - not recorded when data is not provided by the GPS device.
  • Bearing - not recorded when user is not traveling or when data is not provided by the GPS device.
  • Client IP Address
  • Event - action being performed when the data is collected.

The GPS data collected is uploaded to the database during the next sync. The Sync Screen displays the number of GPS records uploaded during the sync. The number of GPS records uploaded during the sync is shown circled in red in the image below.

GPS Sync Data
