Client Access

Use the Client Access features to restrict what investigations and tickets a user can see. Typically this is used to restrict users who are part of a third-party organization, for example users who work for utility companies. Client Accesss applies restrictions to the Dashboard and Find screens. These are the main places where tickets and investigations are opened.

The following Dashboard panes respect Client Access restrictions:

Client Access is controlled by user permissions, viewable utilities, and customer regions. See user administration for more information.

Tickets

To restrict ticket visibility configure a user like this:

  1. Do not assign any of the following permissions: TICKET.VIEW.ALL.LOC, MAN, WORK, SCREEN.
  2. Assign utilities to the user on the View Utilities tab of the User Admin screen.

Investigations

Investigations visible to a user can be restricted by utilities or by customer regions.

In order to restrict visibility by utility, create user matching the guidelines below. The user will be able to view investigations whose customer region is within customer regions assigned to utilities they can see.

  1. Do not assign RISK.VIEW permission.
  2. Assign RISK.VIEW.RESTR.UTIL permission.
  3. Assign utilities to the user on the View Utilities tab of the User Admin screen.

In order to restrict visibility by customer regions, create user matching the guidelines below. The user will be able to view investigations whose customer region is within customer regions they can see.

  1. Do not assign RISK.VIEW or RISK.VIEW.RESTR.UTIL permissions.
  2. Assign RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED permission.
  3. Assign customer regions to the user on the View Regions tab of the User Admin screen.
