Restricting Investigation Access

The viewable investigations for a user can be restricted using two methods. These limits affect the search results that are displayed on the Find screen. The data included in reports is not limited using either method.

  1. By Region
  2. By Utility

Region Restriction

On the Admin/Users screen, the View Regions tab (shown below) allows you to select which regions a user is allowed to view investigations for. The user must also have the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED" right. If the user also has the "RISK.VIEW" right, the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED" right will be overridden and the user will be able to view all investigations.

View Regions Tab

Once the regions have been selected and the right has been assigned, the user will now be able to only view investigations from the selected regions.

Utility Restriction

On the Admin/Users screen, the View Utilities tab (shown below) allows you to select which utilities a user is allowed to view investigations for, based on the customer regions assigned to the utility. The user must also have the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED.UTIL" right. If the user also has the "RISK.VIEW" right, the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED.UTIL" right will be overridden and the user will be able to view all investigations.

Once the utilities have been selected and the right has been assigned, the user will now be able to only view investigations for the customer regions assigned to the utility.

More information on configuring customer regions is located here.

When a user has both the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED" & "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED.UTIL" rights, the restriction applied by the "RISK.VIEW.RESTRICTED.UTIL" right is used.
